Moms Who Workout are Not Selfish

Mom's Who Workout are Not Selfish
If you are anything like me making time for yourself has not been a big priority. Taking care of your family takes precedent over anything you need even that much needed hair cut. It was not until last summer when I was very ill that I realized in order to be a better mom I needed to take care of me. I needed to start by making sure I actually ate three solid meals a day and picking up trails of food left around the house from my kids did not count.  If you are a mom you know what I mean . . .

Moms who workout are not selfish and doing other things for yourself.

Taking the time to care for you is vitally important because when you do your entire family reaps the benefits. I have also in this past six months of taking more time to workout consistently noticed that my kids are more active. If I miss a day or do not want to workout they will give me a hard time. My kids love to workout with me and my husband. They love being a part of the fun and my two year old is getting pretty good at the PIYO Flip move.

  • When you take care of you, you are better able to take care of others.
  • You are a better example to your children, which in this day and age is a big plus.
  • Your body will start to thank you too – better skin, hair, and nails.

Mom's Who Workout are Not Selfish

I know some of you are thinking I have NO TIME to workout and I do not have a DEDICATED SPACE in my house like a garage or separate room.  You do not need more than a space of about 4×8 and even 4×6 will do.  If you have to move a coffee table out of the way DO IT because I know from experience you can in that small of an area TOTALLY transform and TAKE CONTROL of your health and fitness.

Here are some tips to help those of you struggling to make time for yourselves.

  • You do not have to have a gym membership to start working out.
  • You can start by biking or walking around your neighborhood with your kids.
  • The use of home workout videos like PIYO, 21 Day Fix, and T25 are great ways to get your sweat on at home because they only take 30 minutes a day.
  • If you need motivation have workout play dates with other friends. This is a great way to have fun and support each other in your desire for better health.
  • Talk to your spouse about needing that 30 minutes a day to workout or better yet get your spouse and kids involved in the workout time. Make it a family affair.
